Thorney Hill teenager Milly Whitlock Doe, who fell from Majorca hotel balcony, now off life support, talking and moving in Son Espases hospital

A New Forest teenager who fell from a hotel balcony in Majorca is now off life support and has been able to speak and move.

As previously reported, Milly (15) was on her first family holiday abroad when the accident happened on 27th August.

She was rushed to hospital where she underwent two brain surgeries and was put into an induced coma in intensive care. A JustGiving page set up for her has now raised more than £12,000 of a £20,000 target.

Family friend Erica Arnold has revealed the “horse mad” teenager is now off life support and responding well to treatment.

She said: “At present, Milly is considered stable, is making steady progress, and has been able to make voluntary movements and speak; she is no longer connected to life support and will be able to be moved out of intensive care.

“Milly is still relying on high levels of medication, she’s in pain, very uncomfortable, extremely tired and is finding it hard to adapt to the new situation she has found herself in.”

Milly’s parents have spent every day at her bedside in the Son Espases hospital in the capital Palma. But they are keen to get Milly home to the UK to continue her treatment.

Erica revealed: “Her parents have today discussed with Milly's current medical team the option of bringing her back to the UK for the next stage of her treatment and the best way to meet her needs and safely get her home.

“Milly will need specialised medical care during transport, which will most likely be provided by an air ambulance equipped with advanced medical equipment and highly trained medical professionals.

“It has been suggested that Milly stay in the hospital for around three months once she returns to the UK, so let’s hope she’s home with her family for Christmas.

“Milly’s family is tremendously thankful for the unfailing support, heartfelt messages, encouragement, and donations from family, friends, and strangers. It means so much to them to know that people care, which has helped them get through each day.”

Villagers in her village of Thorney Hill, near Bransgore, have rallied round the teenager and her family, putting up posters saying: “Bring Milly Home Safely” and organising fundraising events.
