Fordingbridge teen arrested after assault outside St Peter’s Church in Bournemouth




A FORDINGBRIDGE teen was one of two arrested in connection with a reported assault at a church which saw a man hospitalised.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which happened in the grounds of St Peter’s Church on Hinton Road in Bournemouth in the early hours of Saturday 31st August.

The alarm was raised around 12.55am, and officers on foot patrol nearby were on the scene within minutes.

On arrival, they found a man with a cut face, and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Two men were also detained there, including an 18-year-old from Fordingbridge who was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A 39-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both suspects have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Lucy Hobbs said: “Officers responded swiftly to this report of assault and detained two suspects.

“We are aware that the victim was part of a larger group within the area of St Peter’s Church prior to this assault.

“As part of our investigation I am interested in speaking to members of this group in order to understand the events leading up to the incident.”

She added: “Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact me in confidence as well as anyone with relevant dash cam or home CCTV footage."
