ASSAULTING a police officer saw a Waterside man handed a suspended prison sentence.
Jimmy James (34), of Heather Road, Fawley, pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting an emergency worker, which happened in Southampton on 18th November last year.
The Bench at the city’s magistrates’ court ruled the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
They imposed a three-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered he pay compensation of £100.
He must also abstain from alcohol for 120 days and carry out up to 15 rehabilitation requirement sessions.
