‘Active’ thieves police warning amid spate of vehicle raids at New Forest car parks, with stolen cards used to withdraw £750
“THIEVES are now active” in New Forest car parks was the police warning after one recent incident saw stolen bank cards used to withdraw £750.
Local officers took to social media on Sunday to reveal vehicles had been broken into at Beaulieu Road, Clay Hill Heath and Brock Hill car parks during the previous two weeks.
As well as the cards used for the fraudulent cash withdrawal, items snatched included rucksacks, handbags, purses and tobacco.
The post said: “Can we please remind you to take all of your valuables with you when you leave your car unattended because if thieves see something they think is worth stealing they will break into your vehicle and take it.
“And don’t hide them in the boot either, because you never know who is watching you.”
Patrols of Forest car parks have been carried out, but the post stressed police cannot be there all the time and urged people to do all they can to protect their valuables.
