Floods lane closure lifted on A31 near Ringwod, but exit remains shut

A STRETCH of the A31 near Ringwood has fully reopened after flooding, but a slip road is set to remain shut for “the next couple of days”.

The A&T earlier reported how one lane of the westbound carriageway between the M27 and the A338 was put out of use by emergency works to deal with floodwater.

It was first reported shut for about three hours from around 6.30pm yesterday (Monday), before again being reported closed just after 7am this morning.

Delays of about 70 minutes were reported amid five miles of congestion on the approach.

Posting on X around 12.40pm today, National Highways: South-East announced all lanes were cleared.

However, delays are set to continue due to ongoing work on the exit slip road.

“The westbound exit slip road at Picket Post will remain closed over the next couple days for ongoing clearance of flood water and heavy duty gulley clearance,” the National Highways post explained.
