New Milton Sand & Ballast hold fundraising activities in aid of Oakhaven Hospice
A FUNDRAISING walk and series of wildlife activities will be hosted by New Milton Sand & Ballast in aid of Lymington’s Oakhaven Hospice.
The event is part of an ongoing challenge to raise as much money as possible for the charity, and to date the company has collected £21,000 since 2016.
The one-mile walk will take place around the lakes at the restored Downton Manor Farm Quarry in Milford, between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 30th September.
Open to all ages, the route will follow Downton Jubilee Walk, a new footpath that opened to the public in April 2022, and take participants around the seven new lakes at the site.
Activities on the day include wildflower and seed ball making workshops, run by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, bug hunting sessions with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, and a wildlife trail with a bug house, made by the Men’s Shed, awarded on completion.
A petting area with a Friesian therapy horse will also feature, along with a bird spotting talk and walk with a local expert.
Entry is £5 for an adult and child, with extra adults paying £2 each. Refreshments will be provided on the day.
