A FANTASTIC firework display will be the highlight of the first day of the weekend-long Christchurch carnival with music from one of the best Abba tribute bands in the UK.

Take a Chance on Us will be performing on the Quay tomorrow (Saturday) where there will also fair rides, games and family activities.

A beer tent will be serving the area’s best ales while afternoon tea will be available at another venue at the event.

There will also be food from around the world being served along with a gin bar and coffee stalls.

The firework display will be at 9.30pm.

On Sunday it is the turn of the grand carnival parade to take centre stage starting at 1pm at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre car park. It then goes all through town.
