FIREFIGHTERS battled through the night to contain a large fire at a Pilley home – which destroyed the property’s roof.

The inferno broke out at just after midnight today (Monday) and required the help of several Hampshire Fire & Rescue crews – including Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Hardley, Lyndhurst, Lymington, Sty Marys and Eastleigh.

The Hardley crew said the fire at the property started in the roof, which was 100% damaged.

The first floor was 50% damaged and the ground floor 25%, they continued – adding that the incident was finally contained at around 5.23am.

“Firefighting operations [were] conducted by our crews as the flames engulfed the property, followed by salvage operations to save as many personal items as possible,” the Hardley crew added.
