Dixy Chicken to open new branches in place of closed KFC outlets on Station Road in New Milton and Barrack Road in Christchurch




ANOTHER fast-food chicken outlet is set to replace the closed-down KFC branches in both New Milton and Christchurch.

British chain Dixy Chicken, known for its halal offerings, will open its doors to customers on Station Road in New Milton and Barrack Road in Christchurch.

Posters on the former Nat West bank building at the junction of Station Road and Ashley Road proclaim it is “opening soon”.

It is also advertising full and part-time jobs at the site.

The fried chicken franchise was founded in 1986 by entrepreneurs Mohammed Chowdry and Samuel Jackson.

Headquartered in Solihull, the chain had by 2022 opened more than 120 branches across the United Kingdom.

Dates have yet to be confirmed for the openings.

New Milton’s KFC shut down in June 2024 after just two-and-a-half years. The Barrack Road KFC also permanently closed its doors to customers in June 2024.

As reported in the A&T, they were among several KFC branches to go under when franchise holder Caskade Caterers went into administration.

Earlier this month, New Forest District Council approved a planning application to a change-of-use from commercial to two self-contained flats on the New Milton building’s first floor.
