SSEN engineers repair fault which caused major power outage in Lymington, Pennington, East End, East Boldre, and parts of Sway and Brockenhurst
A NETWORK fault which sparked a major power outage, cutting off more than 11,000 properties across Lymington and surrounding areas, has been repaired.
Having initially attributed the issue yesterday (Tuesday) to an underground network fault, SSEN engineers confirmed through an inspection it was an overhead line issue.
As reported by the A&T, a total of 11,518 properties lost electricity just before 9.30am.
As well as Lymington, the affected zone included Pennington, East End, East Boldre, and parts of Brockenhurst and Sway.
An SSEN spokesperson told the A&T its team restored all supplies in stages by just after 10.10am by back-feeding the network.
Having identified the fault, they carried out repairs during the night, which were completed by 4.15am today (Wednesday). No supplies were affected during this time, according to the spokesperson.
Businesses were brought to a standstill during yesterday’s outage, which prompted Lymington mayor Cllr Colm McCarthy and fellow Lib Dem councillor Jack Davies to demand answers.
“These power cuts are becoming a regular thing in Lymington and Pennington,” Cllr Davies said.
“SSEN need to sort the infrastructure out and I’ll be getting them down to the town council to explain how they plan to do that.”
