Early hours attack leaves man in road with serious head injuries

A MAN suffered serious head injuries in an assault in Lymington in the early hours.

The alarm was raised shortly after 3.30am today (Thursday) when the victim, a 30-year-old from Milford, was found in Lower Buckland Road.

Paramedics responded, along with police, and he was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital where he has been receiving treatment.

Investigations into how he had suffered the injuries were ongoing this morning, with police carrying out house-to-house enquiries locally and in nearby areas including Ashley.

The force has sought to assure residents that the incident is believed to have been “isolated” and there is no cause for concern.

Insp. Scott Beney said: “We understand that this type of incident will be concerning for residents but I would like to reassure you that we are conducting extensive enquiries in the area and will be doing extra patrols over the next few days.

“Our officers will also be out and about carrying out house-to-house enquiries, so if you have any concerns, please go and speak to them.

“At this time we do believe that this was an isolated incident.”

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “We’re investigating after a man was found with serious head injuries in Lower Buckland Road, Lymington, shortly after 3.30am today (31st October), following an assault.

“The man, a 30-year-old from Milford, was taken to hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

“Investigations into how the man suffered these injuries are ongoing this morning.”
