Police issue fine and seize cannabis from illegal camp at Parc Pale, near Lyndhurst

CANNABIS was seized when police found an illegal camp in the New Forest where a large fire had been lit.

The remnants of the campfire were found at Parc Pale car park, near Lyndhurst, as officers and Forestry England staff dealt with the incident this morning (Monday).

A tent was pitched and camping chairs set up near the car park, off the B3056 Beaulieu Road.

Posting online afterwards, police said the camp was believed to have been set up during the night.

“A fine was issued under the public space protection order (PSPO) that is in place across the Forest banning all open fires and barbecues,” the post continued.

“Some cannabis found in the camper’s car was also seized and destroyed.”

It added: “It is important that everyone knows how dangerous lighting fires is, especially at the moment when the Forest is so dry.”
