Motorist Samantha Andrews fined over failing to stop after fatal pony collision on B3055 Sway Road, Brockenhurst

FAILING to stop after fatally colliding with a New Forest pony and driving a badly damaged car cost a motorist £635 when she appeared before magistrates.

Police had responded to reports the animal had been killed after being hit on the B3055 Sway Road, Brockenhurst, around 10.45pm on 11th September.

Investigations led to a Volkswagen Beetle being found parked in the car park of a hotel at Stoney Cross with extensive damage.

Samantha Andrews (44), of Sheffield Close, Potton, Bedfordshire, pleaded guilty to charges of failing to stop after an accident and using a vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury.

As well as fining Andrews £500 and telling her to pay £135 in court charges, the Southampton Bench imposed six penalty points on her driving licence.
