Motorist badly hurt in single-vehicle collision on Matchams Lane at Hurn
A MOTORIST was airlifted to hospital following a single-vehicle collision that closed off a busy Hurn road for several hours yesterday (Monday).
Paramedic teams and police responded to the incident involving a 3 series BMW Coupe, at around 4.45pm on Matchams Lane, close to Hurn Post Office at the junction of Avon Causeway.
The driver, a man in his 40s from West Moors, was flown to hospital by air ambulance after suffering serious injuries.
Police are now urging witnesses and those with any dashcam footage to come forward as they carry out investigations.
Sgt Mike Gatfield, of Dorset’s roads policing team, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision.
“I would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.
“Also, I would urge anyone who might have captured relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.”
He added: “I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closure, which was necessary to enable us to conduct our investigation.”
