Image appeal: man sought after car driver assaults cyclist on Midgham Road in Fordingbridge

POLICE have released a picture of a man they want to track down after a cyclist was assaulted by a motorist who opened his car door into him.

The attack happened as the victim, a man in his 60s, rode on Midgham Road in Fordingbridge around 2.40pm on Tuesday 14th May.

He was knocked off his bike when the door of a blue Honda Civic was opened into him while both vehicles were stationary.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “While on the ground, the victim was then punched in the arm by an unknown man – the driver of the car.

“Thankfully the victim suffered no injuries as a result of the assault.”

Those who can help identify the man are urged to come forward.

He is white, in his early to mid-20s, skinny build, with mousy brown hair, a tattoo on his right hand and a stud earring in his right ear.

He was wearing a dark blue T-shirt, and sunglasses.

Officers also want to hear from witnesses and those who have any relevant CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage.
