Wrong-way collision on A31 near Ringwood leads to motorist’s arrest on suspicion of drink-driving, dangerous driving and driving without insurance




A MOTORIST was arrested for driving offences after a car travelling in the wrong direction collided with another vehicle on the A31 near Ringwood.

Police responded to a call-out around 9.30pm on Sunday, reporting an incident involving a white Nissan Juke being driven eastbound on the westbound carriageway.

It was in collision with a purple Skoda Superb. No injuries were reported.

The Nissan was driven away from the scene, but officers found it in the Waitrose car park at Ringwood’s The Furlong.

A 73-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

A Hampshire force spokesperson said he remained in custody yesterday (Monday).
