A TOTTON driver was killed when a car ploughed into a tree after careering off a road near Winchester early this morning.

Paramedics and police responded to the incident involving a white Vauxhall Insignia, which took place in Longwood Road, Owslebury, just before 12.30am today (Tuesday).

The 29-year-old casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision, and people are being urged to come forward with any information.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Can you help us with an investigation following a fatal single-vehicle collision in Owslebury overnight?

“Officers were called to Longwood Road just before 12.30am today (Tuesday) after a white Vauxhall Insignia collided with a tree.

“The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old man from Totton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who have been in Owslebury at this time and driving on Longwood Road, or who saw a white Vauxhall Insignia in the area.”
