Disruption for train passengers after South Western Railway engineering work over-runs between Totton and Brockenhurst




RAIL passengers travelling between Totton and Brockenhurst face disruption this morning (Tuesday) after engineering work overran.

Replacement buses have been laid on as South Western Railway warns trains running through the two stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

The hold-ups are expected to continue until midday.

Having announced all lines were blocked at 5.20am due to the overrunning works, SWR then said at 6.15am a broken down engineering train was causing further delays.

The lines reopened shortly before 8am.

Passenger tickets are being accepted on Bluestar buses 6 between Southampton Central and Lymington Town, 7 between Southampton Central and Millbrook, 8 between Southampton Central and Millbrook, 9 between Southampton Central and Totton, 11 between Southampton Central and Totton, and 12 between Southampton Central and Totton.

Replacement road transport will shuttle between Southampton Central and Brockenhurst, calling at all stations in between.

This was due to have been in place at Southampton Central around 8.30am and not running to a timetable.

An SWR spokesperson said: “For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”

Passengers preferring to use local buses to continue your journey can check traveline.info but SWR tickets are not valid on those not stated above.
