Acclaimed Terry Pratchett Discworld artist Paul Kidby to open the Fordingbridge Art Club summer show

THE acclaimed illustrator of the Discworld book series, Paul Kidby, will officially open and judge this year’s Fordingbridge summer art show.

Mr Kidby, who lives in the area, worked with the late, award-winning writer Sir Terry Pratchett to create iconic artworks for his comedy fantasy series.

He also designed a set of special Royal Mail stamps in honour of Sir Terry’s work.

The summer art show features works by members of Fordingbridge Art Club, which was founded in 1946 by a group of artists including Augustus John RA, one of Britain’s leading portrait artists.

A spokesperson for the show said: “The club’s enduring success comes from attracting artists of all levels, from beginners to professionals, who gather in a friendly setting of shared interests, that include informal painting sessions, demonstrations, talks and plein air painting sessions.”

The art show is being held at the Salvation Army Hall, Round Hill, Fordingbridge, from Saturday 27th July between 10am and 4pm, until Sunday 3rd August between 10am and 1pm.

The opening ceremony and a private viewing will be held on Friday 26th July at 6pm.
