Wates Developments thanks Holbury locals for feedback on homes plan submitted to NFDC
A DEVELOPER has thanked Holbury residents for their feedback on plans for 200 new homes in the area.
As reported by the A&T, Wates Developments is seeking permission from New Forest District Council to build the properties and make 46 acres of green open space on land south of Rollestone Road publicly available.
The development is set to incorporate sustainability measures like solar panels, electric vehicle charging and “net zero” housing.
The company said green open spaces would cover approximately 70% of the site, including new woodland in “biodiversity enhancement areas” and children’s playing fields, a community orchard and allotments.
Up to 70 of the new homes would be affordable, comprising a mix of house types, sizes and tenures.
A Wates Developments spokesperson said: “We would like to thank all members of the local community who have been in touch with us over the summer and provided us with feedback on our initial plans. It has helped us to improve our evolving proposals and, should they be approved, it will result in a beautiful new development where a wide variety of people will be able to find a suitable place to live.
“There is a pressing need for new housing in the New Forest district since not nearly enough homes have been delivered here over recent years. This site represents a unique opportunity for a much-needed, attractive and sustainable development in an excellent location close to local amenities and facilities. We look forward to working with the council, consultees and the local community to bring the best possible project to fruition.”
The firm said it expects the district council to determine the application in the first half of this year.
