NEW Milton Sand and Ballast (NMSB) will open a new builders' merchant with the help of a local darts champion.

Bransgore's Scott ‘Scotty Dog’ Mitchell is set to take aim at a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow (Thursday) and officially open the family-owned firm's second merchant base.

To celebrate the event, NMSB is putting on games including a darts competition with the chance to compete against the Lakeside World Darts Champion and current PDC tour card holder.

The outlet in Wallisdown Road, Poole, is part of NMSB's local expansion. It runs another builders' merchant in New Milton, and operates three quarries, five depots and one recycling centre.

Matt Lock, sales director, said he was pleased to be opening the new branch.

"Builders' merchants are a natural extension of our business as, unlike many of our competitors, we don’t need to fully rely on third parties," he said.

"From operating sand and gravel quarries to producing our own concrete and offering waste services, we can give our customers an ‘end to end’ service.

"As a result, many local tradespeople will enjoy lower cost goods – with far less risk of shortage when sourcing stock.”
