Honeypot Children’s Charity urges cyclists to sign up to 40-mile challenge
KEEN cyclists are being urged to sign up to the local 40-mile leg of a 500-mile challenge in aid of a New Forest children’s charity.
The House to House cycle will see an intrepid group of cyclists head off from Honeypot Dalleagles in New Cumnock, Scotland, on 29th June, cycling 500 miles over eight days to reach Honeypot House near Exbury on 6th July.
The charity is inviting local cyclists to take part in the final leg of the challenge. It costs just £50 to enter, plus a sponsorship target of £500 to raise vital funds for Honeypot’s work supporting young carers.
The event is fully supported by a professional cycling events company, including experienced guides who are familiar with the route and terrain to help cyclists of all abilities to complete the challenge.
It follows the success of last year’s House to House challenge, which saw participants ride from Honeypot House to Honeypot Pen y Bryn in Wales.
The charity, which provides opportunities for young carers aged five to 12, was founded in 1996, and every year helps around 4,000 young carers. Its programme of wraparound support is designed to alleviate social isolation, reduce stress and anxiety, build confidence, and reverse educational underachievement.
Support also includes respite breaks, trips to the seaside and theme park visits in addition to wellbeing grants to purchase items including books, laptops and sports equipment. The organisation also funds family essentials such as new beds or a washing machine, as well as offering dietary advice through its healthy eating and nutrition service, and pastoral support.
