Cyclist injured in collision with car on Commercial Road, Totton

A CYCLIST was hurt in a collision with a car that resulted in rush-hour traffic disruption on a main Totton road.

Paramedics and police responded to the incident, which involved the bike and a Kia which took place in Commercial Road around 5.15pm on Tuesday.

A road closure was briefly put in place as the casualty, a man in his 30s, was assessed and treated before being taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

He had suffered “non-life-threatening injuries”, according to a South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson. A police spokesperson said he had a serious leg injury.

Long queues were reported as emergency services directed road users past the scene until it was cleared by around 6.45pm.
