Husband and wife team Tracy and Nicholas Bartlett pair their creative talents as artist and chocolatier to create Bartlett de Choc in Ringwood

WHAT do you get if you combine the talents of a chocolatier with the skills of an artist? A beautifully designed boutique store filled with sublime looking chocolates.

Bartlett de Choc in Ringwood, the creation of husband and wife team Nicholas and Tracy Bartlett, was officially opened by the town mayor last week.

A sculptor, designer and mixed media artist, Nicholas created the display cabinets, along with the stunning sculpted wooden tree in the centre of the store which pays homage to his previous experience building sets in the theatre and film world.

His work perfectly showcases Tracy’s creations, which range from bon bons and truffles to delicate chocolates in milk, dark, white and caramel, filled with the likes of mandarin paired with saffron, violet with blackcurrant, and lavender and honey.

A former investment banker turned chocolatier, Tracy said opening her new store in Meeting House Lane was “exhilarating”.

“It’s the moment where my heart’s hidden sketches step into daylight, where the artistry I’ve laboured over becomes more than creation – it becomes connection,” she said.

“I’m thrilled to share this labour of love, even as I stand a little vulnerable, inviting the world to taste not just our products, but the soul and story behind it.”

The store also includes an open kitchen, where customers can catch a glimpse of Tracy at work.

She will also be baking six pastries each day on site, ranging from choux and fruit tarts to classic madeleines.

With missions to educate young people and integrate into the local community, Bartlett De Choc is introducing an ambitious programme of workshops and experiences.

Patisserie courses will be held every week, and collaborations with local producers and Michelin-star chefs are planned from 2026, exploring a wide variety of cuisines and skills – from sushi to pasta making. A calendar of seasonal events is already available to book online.

Nicholas explained: “I wanted the shop to be an immersive experience. It’s about discovery, of people engaging their senses, of experiencing the story behind our chocolates and following it from start to finish.”

Along with the chocolate and patisserie, the enterprising couple are also offering wine, charcuterie and cheese evenings at the store.

Ringwood mayor Cllr Rae Frederick, who cut the ribbon at the official opening, said: “It is a real pleasure to officially open Bartlett de Choc here in the heart of Ringwood. Independent businesses like this are the lifeblood of our town, playing a vital role in supporting both our local economy and our community spirit.

“It is wonderful to see Tracy and Nicholas bring their passion for artisan chocolate and patisserie to Ringwood, and I have no doubt their creativity and dedication will be warmly welcomed by residents and visitors alike.

“I wish them every success as they embark on this exciting new chapter, and I encourage everyone to come and discover the delights of Bartlett de Choc for themselves.”

Tracy and Nick will be personally manning the store, which is now open Tuesday to Saturday between 9.30am and 5pm. For more information, visit https://bartlettdechoc.com/
