Council to host online coronavirus Q&A sessions for Christchurch residents
CHRISTCHURCH residents can get involved in two live online coronavirus Q&A sessions this week hosted by BCP Council.
The first event will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) via BCP’s Facebook page, while the second on Thursday is through the Teams video conferencing programme.
For Thursday’s Q&A, the council is asking for questions to be submitted before the event, which will be held from 5pm. The public’s queries will be answered by a panel of experts from the council, Public Health and the police, and include updates on the latest number and rate of Covid-19 cases in the BCP area, and the arrangements in place to mitigate spread of the virus.
BCP’s Facebook Live events will be hosted fortnightly. Wednesday’s will be a Covid-19 special with the leader, Councillor Drew Mellor, and cabinet portfolio holder for Covid resilience and public health, Councillor Nicola Greene. Residents will be able to watch this live and ask questions via the BCP Facebook page.
Councillor Nicola Greene said: “The Covid-19 situation is an ever-changing picture and it can be difficult to keep up with all the news and information being shared nationally.
“We believe it is really important to keep our residents up-to-date on important and relevant Covid-19 information in order to help them safe and ultimately save lives. By hosting these digital update and Q&A events, we hope to be able to keep local people updated and informed on information and guidelines that affect them.”
Both Q&As will be recorded and available to catch up shortly afterwards on the council’s YouTube channel youtube.com/c/BCPCouncil.
