New Forest District Council expected to make U-turn on application by Reflect Homes Ltd for 19 affordable homes at Gang Warily Farm, Fawley
A COUNCIL looks set to make a U-turn on permission for 19 affordable homes near Fawley.
As reported in the A&T, Reflect Homes Ltd wanted to demolish the farmhouse at Gang Warily Farm, Newlands Road, and build 10 houses and nine apartments on the 0.50-hectare site.
The homes would be a mixture of rent and shared ownership. There would also be 32 parking spaces provided and the existing access from Newlands Road would be retained.
However, since the application was approved by the New Forest District Council’s planning committee in August 2022, the developer has failed to complete legal agreements regarding habitat mitigation or secure the scheme as affordable housing.
A report to members, due to meet next Wednesday, states the application should now be refused.
“Given the time that has elapsed since the original resolution was reached, it is considered little prospect that the applicant will now engage with the council in preparing the [agreement] required to secure the mitigation or subsequently deliver the development.”
The application received five letters of objections, with concerns raised over lack of parking, increased congestion, noise and disturbance to existing residents and flooding.
Cllr Allan Glass, of Fawley Parish Council, also raised an objection on the grounds of overdevelopment and highway safety.
