Orchard Homes and Developments Ltd is granted planning permission by New Forest District Council for nine new homes at Brook House, Salisbury Road, Calmore

NINE new home will be built in Calmore after New Forest District Council gave its approval.

Orchard Homes and Developments applied to build the two, three and four-bedroom homes on land at Brook House, Salisbury Road, which would be accessed by an existing but enlarged entrance.

The site is part of a wider parcel of land included in the Local Plan.

A two-storey extension to Brook House was also proposed.

The application received no representations from members of the public either for or against the scheme.

A report to members recommended the application be approved.

It said: “The design, layout and appearance of the scheme would positively integrate with the character of area.

“The scheme has economic, environmental and social benefits that would secure a sustainable development.”

Discussing the application at a recent district council planning meeting, Cllr David Hawkins raised concerns over pedestrian safety due to a lack of pavements or footpaths at the access road.

However, Cllr Barry Rickman said pavements would “totally urbanise” the area and added he thought the scheme was “excellent”.

Members voted unanimously in favour.
