Hythe drug-driver Daniel Appleton gets 18-month ban after being caught with cocaine and cannabis in his system on Salisbury Road in Totton




A HYTHE motorist caught at the wheel while under the influence of class A and B drugs had his licence taken away for 18 months.

Daniel Appleton (33), of Elm Crescent, pleaded guilty to two counts of drug-driving, relating to offences committed on Salisbury Road in Totton on 1st July 2024.

Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard the defendant had both primary cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol – the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis – in his system.

As well as the disqualification, the district judge handed him a 12-month community order, requiring he carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work. Appleton must also pay £199 in court charges.
