Homefield Grange in Christchurch rated good across the board by CQC inspectors

A CHRISTCHURCH care home has been rated good across the board after making “significant improvements” to the way it is run.

Homefield Grange in Salisbury Road, Winkton, earned the rating after a two-day inspection by Care Quality Commission staff in May.

A report on the home said it specialises in providing personal and nursing care to people with dementia and can accommodate up to 64 residents.

The report said: “At the time of our inspection there were 48 people living at Homefield Grange.

“At our last inspection breaches of regulation were found; at this inspection the home had made significant improvements which had been embedded and sustained.”

The inspection was carried out by two inspectors and a medicines inspector, who stated: “We spent two days in the home, looking at care records and speaking with people and staff.

“The home was led by a registered manager and there were good systems in place to ensure the home operated effectively.

“Risks to people’s health and wellbeing were assessed and managed well. Medicines were safe. The registered manager and staff told us they had worked hard on things they needed to improve.

“One member of staff summed up their journey of improvement when they said, “the registered manager knows this home inside out and back to front. They are determined to turn this place around and I am backing them wholeheartedly’.”

Inspectors said people living in the home were “safe and happy” and that “dignity and respect were at the core of the home”.
