Exbury-based Honeypot Children’s Charity urges donors to give what they can to Christmas appeal

A CHARITY supporting young carers in the New Forest is urging people to give what they can to its Christmas appeal, which will be matched by a “generous” supporter.

Exbury-based Honeypot Children’s Charity, which provides opportunities for young carers aged five to 12, is hoping to raise as much as it can towards its respite services.

The organisation was founded in 1996, and every year helps more than 3,000 young carers. Its programme of wraparound support is designed to alleviate social isolation, reduce stress and anxiety, build confidence, and reverse educational underachievement.

It includes respite breaks, trips to the seaside and theme park visits in addition to wellbeing grants to purchase items including books, laptops and sports equipment. It also funds family essentials such as new beds or a washing machine, as well as offering dietary advice through its healthy eating and nutrition service, and pastoral support.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Be part of the Honeypot House supporters team and help young carers from your area to achieve their hopes and dreams by getting the support they vitally need.

“Your donation will be doubled by our generous match funder to help even more young carers take a break from looking after someone they love.”

Last year, fundraisers helped to raise over £200,000, which was doubled to £400,000 by a generous match donor.
