CCTV: Hunt for woman who assaulted staff at Christchurch M&S after trying to steal £200 worth of meat

POLICE have released CCTV pictures in the hunt for a woman who assaulted staff at M&S in Christchurch after trying to steal food.

At around 2.45pm on Sunday 18th April, the woman attempted to steal around £200 worth of meat from Marks & Spencer on High Street.

She was challenged by members of staff, but became aggressive before there was a struggle as an attempt was made to take the bags. The meat then fell on the floor and the woman left the shop.

During the incident, it is reported, the woman kicked one of the staff members, who was not injured.

Police community support investigator Richard King, of Christchurch police, said: “It is not acceptable for someone to be assaulted while carrying out their job and I am carrying out a number of enquiries into the incident.

“I am now in a position to release CCTV images of the female suspect and I would ask anyone who recognises her to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to urge the woman pictured to please come forward so we can take your account of what happened.”
