Firefighters tackles car blazes in King’s Hat car park, Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst; and at Fawley Quarry, off Calshot Road

FIREFIGHTERS battled two vehicle blazes in the New Forest, one of which forced the closure of a car park.

The first incident, at King’s Hat car park in Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst, last Friday night, was attended by crew from Beaulieu fire station.

It posted an image of the “well-developed car fire” online.

A spokesperson for Forestry England told the A&T a member of its team had also attended.

The spokesperson added: “We made the police aware and they are currently looking into the incident.

“Whilst this is ongoing we have temporarily closed the car park. We will open it as soon as possible.”

Shortly before 8.30pm yesterday (Monday), a drill night for Hardley firefighters was interrupted by an alert to a burning car at Fawley Quarry.

Arriving at the site, off Calshot Road, they found a BMW 520 well alight with flames lapping near neighbouring properties.

The blaze was contained in just over half an hour.
