Shorefields Holiday Park seeks lawful development certificate from NFDc before moving caravans

A NEW Forest holiday park has registered an application to relocate 10 static caravans on their land.

Shorefield Country Park in Shorefield Road, Milford, wants New Forest District Council to issue a lawful development certificate before they resite the holiday properties.

In a letter to the authority, an agent working for the park’s owners pointed out that they already have planning permission for 588 static caravans “in perpetuity”.

It continued: “In this case, the applicant is seeking confirmation from the local planning authority that (the) proposed use of the site for the purposes of siting ten caravans is lawful.”

The applicant says their reason for resiting the caravans is that holiday parks are “having to evolve the way they operate” by accommodating larger homes that customers “have a preference for”.

The letter also says the rise in popularity of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) means the park now needs to provide “larger” double car parking spaces. It adds: “This necessitates the rationalisation of some parts of the wider site to accommodate pitches elsewhere within the lawful confines of the site and its permitted use.”

The public consultation period for the lawful certificate application ends on 14th February.
