Car pursued in high-speed police chase ploughs through garden wall at junction of Eastfield Lane and Hightown Road in Ringwood

A DRIVER was arrested after a car ploughed through a home’s garden wall during a high-speed police pursuit in Ringwood.

Officers gave chase when the BMW 520i failed to stop for them on the A31 having been flagged by a camera as having no insurance around 11.45am last Friday.

But a Hampshire police spokesperson told the A&T they abandoned the pursuit due to the risk to the public after the vehicle turned off onto Eastfield Lane.

It then crashed into the brick wall at the road’s junction with Hightown Road, demolishing it and ending up in the house’s front garden.

Detained nearby, a 28-year-old man from Uxbridge in Hillingdon was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, resisting a constable, drug-driving, drink-driving, driving without insurance, possessing cannabis, wrongful use of a disabled badge, assaulting police, criminal damage and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was later bailed until 13th December pending further enquiries.
