AN elderly motorist escaped injury after her car smashed into a New Milton hair salon yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

The Honda Jazz mounted the pavement at around 3pm and struck Pretty Soul Hair & Beauty in Old Milton Road, smashing its front window.

No one inside the salon or on the street was reported to have been hurt, and the driver, an 83-year-old local woman, was also uninjured.

Police cordoned off the scene until the vehicle was cleared.

Passer-by Isabel Monday shared her shock at the crash scene, saying she had been parked in the spot where the Honda left the road just an hour earlier.

“I was gobsmacked when I saw police,” she told the A&T.

“I had been parked there an hour before; I was coming back and passed an hour later.
