Dog owners called up to join Jasper on Cinnamon Trust charity’s bank holiday Big Walk at Boldre
DOG owners are being called up for a bank holiday Big Walk at Boldre and join tail-wagging ambassador Jasper to support canine charity Cinnamon Trust.
The event, starting at 8.30am on 6th May at Boldre War Memorial Hall, is one of 40 in the second nationwide Big Walk.
This event will see volunteers, their dog ambassadors, and supporters across the country coming out in force to join their local walk.
The Boldre walk is organised by Cinnamon volunteer Mandy Llewellyn from Milford, who said: “Folk can turn up at the hall and they can donate on the day, but don’t have to.
“The walk has a few options, from 4km to around 7km, on quiet lanes and Forest tracks with two gates and no hills. We will have some refreshments at the hall until 10.30am.
“The Big Walk is to raise awareness the Cinnamon Trust – so any help here is great. It’s also great to raise some funds, but that is not the main point of it.
“It’s a fantastic charity that keeps animals at home with the people they love, and gives folk who can’t have pets a part-time one.”
Mandy explained that star ambassador Jasper is 14 and has lived with Janet since he was a puppy.
“Janet uses a walking frame now, and Jasper is deaf. So he needs to walk on a lead on the road; that doesn’t work with a walking frame.
“I live in a first-floor apartment and, like Jasper’s other two walkers, I can’t have a dog myself. So Jasper is my part-time dog – everyone is happy.”
Walkers can enter online at cinnamon.org.uk/thebigwalk or call the Big Walk team at 01736 758701.
Volunteers that confirm their attendance in good time will be presented with a goody bag and the dogs will be suitably treated too.
