A RENOWNED Christmas lighting display in Barton raised £6,000 for the NHS.

In December visitors to the Byron Road display, which has been organised by Ged Hollyoake for the last 18 years, donated £5,862 – which was topped up to £6,000 by a generous donation from a Milford woman.

Each year Ged spends months setting up hundreds of thousands of lights, Christmas scenes and life-size festive animals extending along a terrace of houses.

He said: “This year the money will be going to the NHS at Bournemouth hospital. I would just like to thank all my neighbours who put lights up and Sue and Richard Keffin for providing the storage.”

The illuminations were hailed in 2017 as Britain’s best decorations in a contest run in the Daily Mail.
