Burley Steam and Vintage Show raises £7,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
BURLEY’S biggest ever steam and vintage show has raised £7,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The event, which took place in early October, attracted steam enthusiasts from across the UK and included live music, children’s activities and community attractions.
This year the showcase included 110 classic cars, 14 full sized steam engines, 20 miniature steam engines and 50 vintage tractors.
New for this year was a rural life area, featuring working saw benches and an array of rural craft demonstrations.
Families had plenty to enjoy with a giant digger version of hook a duck and miniature steam engine rides, as well as vintage swing boats.
Organiser Jon Narey said: “Words just really can’t express how overwhelmed we are with this year’s donations.
“We want to say a huge thank you to the amazing people on the Burley committee and volunteers for their dedication and to all our sponsors who donated, enabling us to donate more funds.
“However, we want to say the biggest thank you to every single person – whether an exhibitor, or member of the public who visited our show, purchased a show program, or popped £1 into a charity bucket – you made this possible, so thank you.”
