Man (18) arrested for burglary offences after police respond to report of suspicious person by Eling Infant School and Nursery in Totton




REPORTS of a suspicious person near a Totton school resulted in a teenager’s arrest on suspicion of non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

Police responded to a call-out shortly after 11pm yesterday (Wednesday), with concerns about someone in the area of Eling Infant School and Nursery on School Road.

The 18-year-old local man was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped for burglary and possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.

A Hampshire force spokesperson said he remained in custody this morning (Thursday).

Items seized at the scene included tools and lead flashing.

The search and arrest were carried out by officers from Lyndhurst and Romsey’s district policing teams, joined by police dog Diesel and handler.
