Brothers jailed for more than 10 years for hijacking car in Lymington
TWO brothers who flagged down and hijacked a car in Lymington have been jailed for a combined 21 years.
Jayzer (31) and Jak Wilkie (28) attacked the man behind the wheel of the Renault Clio, who was in his 30s, after he pulled over in School Lane in the town, Isle of Wight Crown Court heard.
However, the duo were stopped and arrested by police a short time after making off with the victim’s vehicle at around 7.30am on 1st September last year.
The court heard that a few days earlier on 29th August the pair had forced entry to an address in Westminster Lane, Newport, on the island.
Once inside they threatened the occupants with knives, although nothing was stolen in that incident.
The defendants admitted at a previous magistrates’ court hearing to robbing the car but initially denied the aggravated burglary charge – only to change their plea to guilty on the morning of a scheduled crown court trial.
Jayzer Wilkie lived at Pallance Road, Northwood, on the Isle of Wight, while Jak was of no fixed abode.
They were each given nine-and-a-half years jail for the burglary and a further year for the robbery of the car.
