A DISPLAY of more than 4,500 poppies at the St Saviour Church garden in Brockenhurst has caused a stir amongst villagers and visitors.

Many have stopped by to photograph the spectacular sight, created by adding 1,500 knitted or crocheted by villagers to 3,000 poppies from last year.

"During the Remembrance season, this year’s wonderful field of poppies in St. Saviour’s church garden, Brockenhurst is even bigger with a ‘river’ of poppies flowing from the East window," said Lesley Munt – from the Brockenhurst Church Office.

"It is drawing lots of attention from passers-by who stop to take photos and spend time reflecting on those who gave their lives for our freedom. Heartfelt thanks go to each and every one who has helped."
