Bootees, caps, gloves and toys knitted by people in the New Forest are taken by New Forest for Ukraine to war torn country.

PREMATURE babies in war-torn Ukraine are receiving booties, caps, gloves and toys knitted by New Forest residents.

They are packed by volunteers who are working for New Forest for Ukraine and then taken to the country in aid convoy trucks.

Along with baby wipes, nappies and sanitary items for mothers, the donations are destined for hospitals where premature babies are being cared for.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “It is one more act of love for the people of Ukraine from the volunteers and communities across the New Forest.”

The group started taking aid out to Ukraine in 2022 and now have a network of sites across the Forest at which the public can donate items that can be of use.

These are taken to Charity Foundations in Ukraine, which ensure they get to the right people as quickly as possible.
