Body of woman in her 80s found in River Stour at Tuckton, near Christchurch




AN elderly woman’s body has been pulled from a river at Tuckton, near Christchurch.

Police cordoned off the area near Tuckton Tea Gardens, off Belle Vue Road, as they responded to reports of the discovery in the River Stour around 9.20am today (Tuesday).

The coroner has been informed of the death of the pensioner, who was in her 80s. It is not being treated as suspicious.

A force spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 9.21am that the body of a woman aged in her 80s had been found in the river off Belle Vue Road in Bournemouth.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman’s next of kin has been informed. The coroner has also been notified.

“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
