Motorcyclist fighting for his life after collision with car on Fairmile Road in Christchurch
A MOTORCYCLIST was left fighting for his life after a crash with a car on a busy Christchurch road.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage of the incident, which involved a Yamaha bike and a white BMW 118i.
It happened on the B3073 Fairmile Road, at its junction with Stour Road, around 4.30pm yesterday (Monday).
The rider, a local man in his 50s, suffered what were described as serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His next of kin has been informed.
People are being urged to come forward if they saw the collision or captured relevant video footage.
Sgt Dave Cotterill, of the roads policing team, said: “This incident occurred at a busy time of day and I understand there were a number of motorists in the area who may have seen what happened.
“I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.
“Also, I am keen to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dash cam footage.”
He added: “Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience while emergency services were in the area treating the injured man and carrying out an examination of the scene.”
