Michael Ball and Alfie Boe Chewton Glen concert cancelled after Covid alert
THE first show in a series of picnic concerts at Chewton Glen Hotel has been postponed after Michael Ball tested positive for Covid.
The outdoor series of events at the luxury New Milton hotel was due to begin this evening (Tuesday) with the classic duo Michael Ball and Alfie Boe appearing on stage. However, the event has now been called off.
A spokesperson for the concert said: “Sadly, due to Michael contracting Covid-19, we regret to inform you that the Michael Ball and Alfie Boe show at Chewton Glen will not be taking place.
“We are working hard to reschedule the show and hope to announce a new date very soon. We will keep you informed of any further developments as soon as we can."
The duo were due to be the first on stage ahead of separate concerts featuring McFly, Michael Bublé and Tears For Fears in the following days.
As a duo, the pair have sold over 1.3-million albums in the UK, received two Classic Brit Awards, sold out two headline arena tours and presented three ITV specials.
Ball and Boe’s debut release Together became the UK’s best-selling album of 2016 and beat the likes of Little Mix and The Rolling Stones to the Christmas number one spot. Their follow-up Together Again brought the pair yet another number one album in 2017 and, Back Together, their third, landed them the number two spot.
In November 2020, the pair released a collection of Christmas classics along with a self-penned track from Michael, which again topped the official albums chart.
The spokesperson added: “Michael sends his apologies and is absolutely devastated that he’s unable to perform tomorrow evening, but he hopes to see you all soon.”
