Christchurch boy one of two youths arrested after police respond to reports of machete incident in Bournemouth
A CHRISTCHURCH youth was one of two 16-year-olds arrested following reports of a teenager carrying a machete in Bournemouth.
Police responded to a call-out around 9pm yesterday (Monday) to the alleged incident on King John Avenue.
On arrival, officers located a boy matching a description provided, as well as a second boy reported to have been involved. A knife was recovered at the scene.
The Christchurch boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
The other boy, who is from Poole, was arrested on suspicion of possessing of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Both were later released on bail as enquiries continued.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
As investigations continue, people are urged to come forward if they may have witnessed the disturbance.
Officers also want to hear from any passing motorists who may have captured useful dash cam footage.
Police staff investigator Alice Harmsworth said: “We understand this reported incident may cause concern among the community and we want to reassure residents we take knife crime very seriously and it is a force priority to tackle knife-related offences.
“Our officers can be approached at any time with concerns.”
