Police dogs help secure arrests of New Milton Motor Services raid suspects

TWO men were arrested after police responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a vehicle repair workshop in New Milton.

A member of the public had raised the alarm, saying raiders seemed to be targeting New Milton Motor Services in Hamilton Way shortly before 9.30pm on Monday.

Following a search of the area, officers found a vehicle matching a description provided by witnesses.

Inside they discovered a haul of power tools, including two DeWalt drills and a Makita radio, which were then seized.

While waiting for recovery of the vehicle, the officers spotted two men in Old Milton Road who also matched descriptions provided.

Both were detained and searched before being released after nothing suspicious was found in their possession.

However, a dog unit later deployed to check for discarded property found a key for the seized vehicle in an alleyway near where the men had been seen.

Officers arrested two men from Poole, aged 43 and 45, on suspicion of attempted burglary.
