Met Office warns of disruption as it issues yellow weather warning for rain across New Forest and Christchurch

YET another yellow weather warning has been issued for the area, as heavy rain is set to batter the New Forest and Christchurch across two days.

The Met Office alert, which runs from 5pm tomorrow (Thursday) until 10am Friday, warns of disruption if flooding happens.

It says there is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses, as well as cancellations to train and bus services.

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The Met Office states: “Whilst some areas will miss the worst, areas of heavy, showery rain are expected to become widespread across a swathe of England and Wales during Thursday evening and on into Friday morning.

“There is some uncertainty in the details, but some locations may see up 20-30mm of rain in two to three hours and perhaps 40-60mm in four to six hours.

“Lightning and strong, gusty winds may be additional hazards, especially in southwest coastal areas. Given the recent very wet weather, this will bring the potential for further flooding and transport disruption.”
