Cessna Citation aircraft forced to make emergency landing at Bournemouth Airport after engine failure





FIREFIGHTERS rushed to Bournemouth Airport as an engine failure forced an aircraft to make an emergency landing.

The alarm was raised at 6.50pm yesterday (Monday), after reports one of the engines on the Cessna Citation had failed. There was one person on board.

Crews from Christchurch and Springbourne were sent on standby in case the fire service based at the site, off Parley Lane at Hurn, needed help.

But the plane landed safely with no injuries, according to a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson. The crews were required only to collect details.

An airport spokesperson said: “It was a private twin-engine Citation aircraft with just the pilot on board and landed safely at 19.03 after the pilot reported a single engine failure.”
