A35 near Lyndhurst closed both ways after crash between car and van




A driver was cut from their vehicle after a crash which closed the A35 south of Lyndhurst in both directions this morning (Tuesday).

Routes around the village had lengthy queues after the collision, which happened at around 6am.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: “A van and a car were involved in a crash on the A35 shortly after 6am this morning.

“Crews from Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Redbridge responded and worked to release one casualty trapped in one of the vehicles.

“The casualty was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics before firefighters left the scene at around 7.30.”

A Hampshire police spokesperson said the incident happened at 6.13am, and the driver of the van was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury which was not life-threatening or life-changing.

The AA first reported the incident at 7.11am, saying: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash on A35 both ways from Rhinefield Ornamental Drive to Pinkney Lane.”

The road has now reopened.
